From the Community House School
To begin, we at the Community House School wish everyone a "Happy &
Healthy New Year". Our students made their New Year’s resolutions and we all
wish that 2010 will bring great things to our world.
Last month all of our classes went to the Barnes & Noble book store. It was a
great trip! Our winter show was quite impressive with our students singing ten
songs. The stars in the sky did not shine as brightly as our little stars did on
stage.
Have a great New Year!
Calendar:
January 4, 2010 - School opens
January 18, 2010 - School closed - Martin Luther King’s Birthday
The CH is home to The Community House School, founded in 1927.
The school is a nonprofit, nonsectarian educational organization, licensed by
the New York City Department of Health and registered with the New
York State Board of Regents. The school has an accredited Kindergarten as
well as a variety of preschool programs. The school encourages learning through
socialization, cooperation and experimentation. Teachers are licensed and
certified. All staff attend continuing education courses throughout the year. In
addition to our classroom, we have a Creative Movement Teacher and a Music
Teacher. Facilities include a secure, outdoor play yard, large and small gym,
large kitchen for cooking lessons and an auditorium with stage and professional
lighting.
Your child’s name must be placed on a waiting list
in advance of registration. In mid-January, an appointment will be made for you
to come and visit the school. Registration will follow. The school year runs
from September through June. For further information, please call:

Our main objective is to make
all children feel self confident. "I can do it!" Our Math program is a hands-on program that will help develop the children’s thinking skills and
problem solving skills so that the concepts they will need to learn in math,
will come to them easily.
Our Literacy program
encourages our children to explore the world of words and reading through
emergent reading and spelling techniques.
It has been a great success to
date. Because preschool is a child’s
first school experience, we want to encourage them to love and want to come to
school. Therefore, all learning is presented in a child centered environment,
where fun, creativity, exploration and individuality are emphasized.
If you would like any
information about our school, or know of anyone who is interested in
pre-school for their child, please feel free to call us at the school office
(718) 268-0490. We look forward to seeing you throughout the year.
