The Church in the Gardens Community House (CH) in Forest Hills Gardens is a nonprofit, nonsectarian recreational facility for residents of Forest Hills and surrounding neighborhoods. More Than 80 years ago, a small group of motivated residents banded together with the dream of creating a place where athletics and arts could flourish: where people could meet to discuss the news of the day; with friends could gather for social occasions; and where children could grow to become responsible young men and women. The Community House provides a common meeting place and offers constructive activities and programs for children as well activities and social events for adults.

We offer numerous activities to our member children including an Afterschool Program, a Summer Program, swimming, martial arts classes, basketball & soccer clinics, hip hop classes and family yoga. For our adult members we have numerous available pool hours, yoga classes, TBC (total body conditioning) classes, water aerobics, zumba, sports programs, special events and social activities.
We plan fun family activities throughout the year.
Our “official season” begins in the Fall with the Members’ Barbecue and Annual Meeting, the “Taste of Forest Hills” Wine & Food Sampling, followed in December with a Family Holiday Party. We also have a CH Casino Night, and occasional Parent /Child events such as the Mother-Daughter Luncheon and Father-Son Outing.
The facilities of The Community House include a large gym/auditorium with stage and professional lighting, game room, professional kitchen, Smith Hall and adjacent Tea Room all of which are air conditioned. The CH also has a heated, indoor swimming pool (20’ x 60’) with locker room facilities and showers.
